Accessing your health information when and where you need it
Marshall Health and Cabell Huntington Hospital (along with several other organizations) transitioned to a unified Electronic Health Record (EHR) on Thursday, October 1, 2020. This consolidation of more than a dozen EHRs into one should provide a number of benefits to your doctors, nurses and other Marshall Health and Cabell Huntington Hospital employees.
For our patients, all of the changes happening behind the scenes will not be very obvious, except in one area—the patient portal. Before Oct. 1, Marshall Health used Allscripts as its EHR and FollowMyHealth as its portal. Cabell Huntington Hospital used Cerner Millennium as its EHR, and myHealthFile as its portal. Now, neither Allscripts nor FollowMyHealth are used by Marshall Health. Cabell will continue to use Cerner Millennium (which was upgraded on October 1), as will Marshall Health. The portal for both Cabell Huntington Hospital and Marshall Health is now myHealthFile.
Things to Remember:
- If you had a FollowMyHealth portal account through Marshall Health, it is no longer connected to Marshall Health’s EHR as of October 1.
- You can still be able to sign into your FollowMyHealth account and view the information there. However, it is no longer being updated with new data (such as laboratory and radiology results) from Marshall Health after October 1, nor will you be able to use it to communicate with your provider or request refills.
- If you currently have a myHealthFile account, you do not need to do anything. You will be able to use it to communicate with your provider and view your laboratory and radiology results from both Marshall Health and Cabell after October 1. (Note: some health information from your Marshall Health providers may not appear on your new portal account until it has been confirmed at your next appointment).
- If you do not currently have a myHealthFile account, you will need to sign up for one at your next appointment.
If you have never had a portal account through Cabell Huntington Hospital or Marshall Health ask about it at check-in during your next appointment. It’s an easy way to access your health information and connect with your physician when and where you need it.
